A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE TRINITY EPISCOPAL DAY SCHOOL BOYS CROSS-COUNTRY TEAM.
WHEREAS, the Trinity Episcopal Day School Saints Cross-Country Team competed in the Mississippi Private School Association Class A-AA Cross-Country State Championship at Choctaw Trails in Clinton, Mississippi; and
WHEREAS, the boys track team placed four runners in the Top 10 as the Saints won the boys Mississippi Private School Association Class A-AA Cross-Country State Championship; and
WHEREAS, the Saints' top runner, senior Adam McClain, finished first in the race, running an 18:54 while fellow teammate Will Darsey finished second overall in the meet with a time of 19:34; and
WHEREAS, finishing in the Top 10 and earning all-state honors, junior Scott Maggio gave the Saints a fourth place finish at 20:19 and sophomore Buddy Laneau ran a personal best, 21:10, to finish 10th; and
WHEREAS, other teammates to place in the championship were Rob Hefley, who placed 23rd at 23:37 and Chuck Emrick, who was 25th at 24:14; and
WHEREAS, the Saints have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Earl Hefley, who has broadened the players knowledge of running and refined their skills in execution; and
WHEREAS, the Saints have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual team members and their coaches and bring honor to the City of Natchez and Trinity Episcopal Day School; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the youth of our state, who are its future:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Trinity Episcopal Day School Saints Cross-Country Team and Head Coach Earl Hefley for their outstanding performance in the Mississippi Private School Association Class A-AA Cross-Country State Championship.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Trinity Episcopal Day School and Head Coach Earl Hefley.
